Gotcha Day! Love at First Sight!

Today was so wonderful. We started the day with a big breakfast and all of us breathing heavily because we were so excited about the moments ahead when we were to meet Danielle. We went to the Civil Affairs office around 10am and when we turned the corner into the meeting room, Danielle was sitting quietly on the couch waiting for us. She was so brave. She shook each of our hands and called us by name. She was so cute, I almost burst into pieces. We gave her a couple of dolls to break the ice and she was all ours! The smiles and giggles only took about 5 minutes to emerge. Avery and Jack were terrific. They had her comfortable and happy, it was so heart warming. Then the administration began......we had to work on the papers, go to a photographer to get a formal picture taken of her and the Mama and BaBa (me and greg), then go back to the office to get more papers, head to the notary office (which took way toooo long) and then we headed to lunch. After lunch we had to go to the police station where they begin the processing of the passport for Danielle. It was a very full day. We did not make it back to the hotel until 5pm. So we are hanging out with Danielle and she is AMAZING. She has not shown any signs of grieving yet, but we know that it may come. She was very loved by her foster family and we heard that they cried today when she left the orphanage. She is so lovely... see for yourself!

  1. Oh Gosh! What a beautiful privilege to read this post and be part of these photos!!! Danielle's face shines like one who knows her dreams have come true. And your whole family is just glowing. I love the joy in your older kids faces. My son had that same look when we met his little sister. I hope our next daughter has as much joy and love on her family day. So excited for you all.

Can you tell me where you got that doll? I would love to get one for Shanna.

Linda, BAAS. Almost there and waiting for Shanna, age 9
