Help! Guess we will be paying for this extra weight.... but at least we will shed much of this extra luggage, in return for gaining a beautiful new daughter.

Leavin on a Jet Plane
Tomorrow is our departure date. It is amazing that this extraordinarily long waiting period is finally coming to an end. The beginning of our new family is upon us. I have to get used to saying "Table for six!" Yikes. Some restaurants will let you reserve a table in advance only if you have 6 or more in your party - lucky us!!
No surprise, I am having packing "issues". We are allowed 2 checked bags each on the way to Beijing, but within China, we are only allowed 1 checked bag with a weight limit of 44 pounds and under. Now how can we do that? We have a suitcase filled with clothes and goodies for Danielle, we have another suitcase filled with gifts, snacks, medications and toiletries, and yet another one filled with children's vitamins for the orphanage. (Austin and his friend, Sean, solicited a load of vitamins from church to bring with us!!) We now have 8 bags, each weighing in around....
Help! Guess we will be paying for this extra weight.... but at least we will shed much of this extra luggage, in return for gaining a beautiful new daughter.

Hello! I just saw your blog address on the yahoo group. How exciting for your travel tomorrow!!! You must be so excited. I look forward to following your journey. I believe I saw on one of your posts that your little girl has a heart defect. We are also adopting a little girl with a heart defect who will be 3 when we travel. I will be praying for your safe and happy union!

ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up! Your backpack for her is exactly what ours looks like, down to the dolls in it and the ladybug on the outside, for good luck. :o)
Glad to hear we can pack 2 bags each. I was wondering how to get all of the stuff to the foster facility.
God speed and we'll be reading along as you head on your amazing journey.
